In addition to curriculum development, the partnership focused on creating a digital VSLA system (e-recording) to modernize record-keeping and streamline financial operations. Capacity-building sessions were conducted to train groups on using these technology-enhanced systems, empowering them to transition from manual processes to digital platforms. This innovation not only improved efficiency and data accuracy but also aligned with the broader goal of promoting digital financial inclusion across Kenya’s rural and semi-urban communities.
Project Description
CARE International in Kenya in partnership with FSD Kenya spearheaded the development of a comprehensive VSLA curriculum aimed at strengthening community-based financial inclusion initiatives. The curriculum provided standardized training materials and practical guidelines to enhance the knowledge and skills of Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) members, ensuring effective group management, transparency, and accountability.
