Project Description
Habitat for Humanity International implemented the Save and Build through VSLA initiative in Laikipia County to promote affordable housing and financial empowerment among low-income households. The program encouraged community members to form and strengthen Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), enabling them to collectively save, access small loans, and invest in improving their living conditions and housing.
Through this approach, Habitat for Humanity fostered a culture of saving and financial discipline while providing technical guidance on sustainable construction and home improvement. The initiative not only enhanced access to decent housing but also contributed to broader community development by empowering families to take charge of their financial future and build safer, more resilient homes in Laikipia County.
